It was expected to be a faceoff, but ended with a hug. At an iftar party thrown by MLA and former minister Baba Siddiqui on Sunday evening, long-standing foes Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan hinted at a thaw in their icy relationship with a warm embrace, much to the surprise - and relief - of other diners, who had expected fireworks when they saw both Khans' names on the guest list.

Five year fight
The Salman-SRK cold war, which split Bollywood into rival camps, began on July 16, 2008 - Katrina Kaif's birthday. The two superstars got into an ugly war of words at the party, which Salman had organised for Kartina, then his girlfriend.

Salman had reportedly began provoking Shah Rukh from the start of the party by speaking about their reality shows - Dus Ka Dum and Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain? Salman claimed that his show, DusKaDum, had a higher TRP than Shah Rukh's, according to sources. Salmanallegedly mocked Shah Rukh by saying that despite being a superstar, he could not make his show a hit. Shah Rukh initially did not pay any heed to Salman's comments. But when Shah Rukh made a comment about Salman's ex-girlfriend AishwaryaRai, it invited a furious retaliation from Salman.
The fight took place late at night, after many of the guests had left. Though Aamir Khan tried his best to resolve the dispute, the two were not in the mood to compromise.
